Belarms and Solar Energy
Belarms is seeking to become a leading supplier of solar equipment aimed
at electricity generation for town grids. For this reason Belarms seeks to
not only manufacture the essential equipment, but also to build and
maintain power plants as investments in utilities.
Only by developing solar products and selling them to the international
marketplace can the products prove their merits as useful items to
society. Belarms sees the market as the only place to advance the
company and its products. This should be done without government
grants and by the merits of the products themselves.
Solar energy is seen as the most environmentally friendly form for the
generaration of electricity. However this should not be an exclusive
activity for wealthy householders to clad their houses with photovoltaic
cells, though this is a minor plus for the environment. Belarms develops
solar equipment to permit generation to the grid and support the
community electricity generation base for the good of all in our society.
The process will be gradual and must be in co-operation with the main
means of power generation, slowly working to replace the old technology.
Diagram of parabolic trough for collecting solar energy
The solar parabolic trough is a simple device to heat a pipe carrying
a liquid or gas which is taken off to generate steam then electricity.
The liquid or gas can also be channeled to an insulated storage tank
so that electricity can be generated at night. The solar parabolic
trough has the weakness of requiring a lot of land, however.
Parabolic solar dish
This is a prototype parabolic solar dish
developed in Australia. Belarms does
not intend to use this design, but note
the three extending arms to hold a
Stanley engine.
Assembly of photovoltaic cells
Most producers of PVC panels are merely
piecing them togther in an assembly
operation. A few large manufacturers
control the PVC market for this high
end solar product.
Solar Energy Research
Belarms is committed to scientific and engineering research in
co-operation with universities along with our own company
research teams. Further, scientific data collected is available for
academic and research purposes.
Programs will be put in place to sponsor student engineers so
that there can be constant and reliable monitoring and
maintenance systems in place to maintain energy systems for use
by society, whether in small towns or in large cities.
Product Development
Product development is at the core of Belarms industrial efforts
to ensure that maximum engineering efficiency is the basis for
product quality. There are many components that have to be tested
and re-engineered so that systems can be improved with the aim
of ultimately reducing the cost of electricity to the consumer.
Our primary focus is the conversion of solar energy (sunlight)
into steam for generation and heat storage systems that permit
overnight generation of electricity - 24 hour "solar" generation.
Solar Energy and the Electricity Grid
Solar systems developed and manufactured by Belarms for the
generation of electricity are intended to be mainstream generating
equipment for consistent, long term power generation sufficient
to supply town grids. By developing mass production systems and
the necessary engineering support, it is intended that through
the efforts of our research scientists and engineers we will
achieve a viable alternative means of production to the carbon
based systems such as coal, oil and gas which are the primary
causes of the stresses on the environment of our planet.
Commitment to remote communities
History, geography and the realities of the rural economy have
caused communities to develop in remote locations. However
modern living in such locations is constantly hampered by the
high cost of electricity generation. Further, the reliability of the
generators - usually deisel - is a constant problem. Belarms
pledges to make maximum efforts to resolve this problem forever.
Preparing a photovoltaic cell panel
This labor intensive activity is one
reason PVC solar products are expensive.
Most such operations in western
countries soon fold.
Finishing a photovoltaic cell panel
An additional cost for PVC panel
manufacture is the need to maintain a
dust free factory environment.
